The regular safety on This is a "trigger safety" meant to stop the sear from disengaging about the hammer. A worn or malfunctioning sear interface could continue to result in the hammer to slide off of the sear and slide upon the firing pin. Because the HP22A is one Motion Only (SAO) gun and pulling the trigger doesn't cock the hammer, if I had been you and eager to CC this handgun, I'd probably carry it cocked with the trigger safety disengaged even so the firing pin block safety engaged.
